Post workout pain is the worst, and sometimes taking a pain reliever or a using a roller is just not enough to get rid of that discomfort. I’ve discussed how to combat post workout pain in a previous post, but recently a discovered a whole new and super effective way to relieve pain as well… CBD oil!

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol hemp oil, or CBD hemp oil is chemical found in the marijuana plant. For those that don’t know marijuana has a ton of health benefits and treatments, mostly because of the CBD’s . If you’re not a fan of cannabis, totally understandable, however all human body’s actually have natural CBD receptors. Which means our bodies can receive these chemicals without harming us in any way.

“CBD interacts with our naturally occurring systems, but is non-psychotropic, it doesn’t cause a high,” according to Medical Marijuana Inc.

In relation to this review though I’m going to explain how CBD works when used topically rather than when it’s digested.

Does it really work?

When CBD oil is used in skincare it’s still really effective and actually one of the easiest ways to receive it’s pain relief benefits because it’s quickly absorbed into the skin. So when CBD Clinic asked me if I wanted to try some of the products I was curious to see if it actually worked or if CBD in skincare was just a placebo effect.

CBD Clinic  claims to offer “revolutionary pain relief”. When I read this claim I was curious if it would work for cramps and post workout soreness. They carry 5 different ointments for different types of pains and pain levels – severe, mild (odor free), mild Moderate, moderate, and pro sport. They also carry a ointment specifically targeted for arthritis pain.

“CBD CLINIC™ Professional Series topical medications are the first and only non-prescription ointments and creams that combine FDA-approved active ingredients and hemp extract (CBD),” said on their website. “Our revolutionary pain relief products are formulated with natural emollients to help active analgesic compounds penetrate deep to quickly increase blood flow to joints and muscles and interrupt pain signaling”.

After use effects?

I received samples of all five, but pro sport was what I was really intrigued to try. I tend to be really sore in my upper thighs and calfs after running or hiking, making it difficult for me to go up and down stairs throughout the day. When I applied the CBD Clinic Pro Sport ointment to my legs and lower back it had the same tingly sensation as an icy hot patch. After about 2 minutes I felt that pain kind of go numb and melt away instantly. My mom has even tried it and says she enjoys the soothing and cooling sensation. The ointment didn’t just mask the pain it completely eliminated it.

I was able to move around the next day with a significantly decreased amount of soreness in my legs. The only complaint I have about it the odor is very strong, somewhat smells like vapor rub, so if you’re sensitive to smells I suggest using their odor free version.

Overall I would purchase these again and have been honestly recommending to everyone I know. Disclaimer, CBD is legal nation wide and not psychoactive in any way. For more information about CBB and CBD Clinic product click here.
