June Skin & Hair Care Favorites (2016)
Last month I posted my skincare favorites and I have a few hair related blog post as well, but I’ve never combined the two. Although hair and skin are very different they do some similarities. Such as they need to be constantly washed, regularly maintained, switch behavior throughout the year, and have their good and bad days.
The skincare products I mentioned last month I still use, this is just some of favorite new products as well some hair goodies. Also since I’ve moved to California my entire body is adjusting to a new climate. Texas is way hotter and more humid than California (obviously) thus being in this super dry mild heat is confusing my hair and skin off as well.
I’m not sure about the rest of y’all but when my hair and skin have their bad they are really bad, there is just no in between. So it’s really important to me to listen to what my skin and/or hair are trying to tell me and rearrange my products to fit my current needs, especially with my sensitive skin and thick hair.
Here are my personal favorites this month in hair and skin care:
In California I’ve found myself being active outside alot more often. I can’t count how many times I’ve already been to the beach and gone hiking so having sunscreen with me at all times is super important. The Nuetrogena UltraSheer Face & Body Stick Sunscreen in SPF 70 is designed for the body and face, and doesn’t break me out. Also its fits into any purse or pocket so I have no excuse to not bring it with me.
I love this shampoo! Miss Jessie’s is a natural hair care brand sold at Target that is useable for all hair types, but especially great for thick curly hair, like my own. I usually am not too picky about shampoos because they all typically do the same thing, clean my scalp but dry out my hair but not this one. It’s very moisturizing, smells amazing, and it’s added bonus it detangles like a dream.
I picked this up while waiting in like at check in T.J. Maxx and thank goodness because it’s become one of my favorite body scrubs ever. I love dead sea salt and pumice get ride of all dead and dry skin. I didn’t even know my skin was able to feel this soft after the first time I used this.
Last month I drastically changed my hair and got it dyed blonde, like super blonde! When I asked my hair stylist how I need to take care of she high suggested finding a oil based protein conditioner. After searching for the perfect one online I decided to just try the $1.99 Palmer’s Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack. These keep my bleached hair soft and healthy. Of course I was curious to try the other Palmer’s Coconut hair products, and then I fell in love with the coconut hair smoothie just as much. It doesn’t way down too much on my hair and it great for my infamous messy buns. Both can be found at Target.
I’m an oily girl so using an oil has never been too appealing to me, but after I smelled and felt this product on my skin I had to buy it. I picked mine up at Nordstrom’s Rack for only $8.00, and although it’s a little pricer online it’s totally worth it. It’s difficult to describe the way dry oil feels when it rub it into your skin, but in the end it makes my legs look like a caramel dipped apple, feel like butter, and smell like a coffee cake. Yes please!
I’m sure everyone has heard of the Ben Nye banana setting powder, but that jar is tiny and it’s pretty expensive. I’ve had my jar of this setting powder for about a year now but having really appreciated how well it works until now. I powder this all over my face right before I walk out and I’m in good to go with no worries that the heat will completely melt my face off. You can either set it and then brush it away or set it and leave it on, either way your makeup will thank you.
