As the week is beginning and the season is starting to change (yay fall!) I have to take extra care of my skin, especially with the stresses of school and work.
I have combination-oily skin and get hormonal acne. I tend to breakout when my stress levels or high and during my cycle, also when I have a little to much fun during the weekends. Drinking more water and scrubbing my face with black african soap are my go too after a bad breakout.
I tend to stick with the same few products, but with my skin being more stubborn than usual I decided to try some new things that have been actually working really well. Here are my current skin care favorites. Everything mentioned can be used on all skin types but work especially well with oily acne prone skin.
I have been using exfoliating face brushes for years, they are great for removing dead layers of skin and they are super affordable no matter where you get them. Lately I’ve been using it after I remove my makeup with the Nip Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser. I literally went to CVS and browsed the skin care section until I found something that would work for the tiny bumps that appeared after I took midterms. It was a risk to take with my super sensitive skin but it’s probably on my list of new favorite face washes.
I apply the Freeman Charcoal and Black Sugar Polishing Mask before or after I wash my face, dependent on the day really. If I’m having a heavy make up day I usually scrub after I cleanse to get any left over layers makeup or oil off. However no matter what my makeup coverage is like I always use a primer. I usually use NYX Pore Filler , but with the weather cooling off my skin needs more moisture then usual so I’ve been using Wet n Wild Coverall Face Primer.
The Yes to Grapefruit Body Creme is a year round favorite of mine because it smells amazing , makes my skin ultra soft, and actually does correct any darks marks on my body. I also use black african soap or black african soap based products year round. A regular bar is really drying so during the fall/winter I use it sparingly. But to continue to put those healing and cleansing ingredients in my skin I use the Shea Moisture Black African Soap line. They have many but my current favorites are the mask and moisturizer.
